Job Description
Incubated as a part of The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven since 2009, New
Haven Promise (Promise) is a scholarship, student support, and career launch nonprofit critical to the economic vitality of the city of New Haven. Promise is focused on building a culture in the public schools and the city in which students aspire to attend and graduate from college; provide financial incentives and support for college students; and facilitate the return of Promise alumni to live, work and serve in the greater New Haven community. Promise builds a supportive partner community in New Haven where all young people gain the education and experience required to function productively in a knowledge-based economy in the region. New Haven Promise is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Promise’s support – financial, academic, and social – focuses on three key areas: early career exploration and college access, career readiness and college success and career and civic launch.
Prioritize integrated marketing and communications efforts by coordinating and executing:
Digital/print publications
Social media plans
Email communication
Website management
Media/advertising buys
Content management
Video production
Partner with the Promise team to develop all print, electronic and social media
materials and messaging for both primary and supportive content.
Ensure consistent messaging in market position and brand identity, and
strategic promotion of Promise events.
Create and execute a master and individual editorial calendar.
Assess effectiveness of all communication strategies, assert data analysis to
drive design and strategy, and collect market feedback and response.
Maintain a timely photo and video archive to be used across all platforms and
outlets.
Work with vendors for timely content submission, copyedited editorial
submissions, and creative deliverables.
Stay current with market research, industry trends, fresh content, and strategic
placements.
Foster strategic public relations to build and expand relationships with
external constituencies that contribute to our marketing success.
Attend Promise-associated and/or strategic outreach events for
communications support.
Education and Experience: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree and 3 years experience in full-time marketing/communications role. Demonstrates enthusiasm, proactivity, flexibility, and organization.
Strong written, copy editing, and content management skills required across all media channels.
Ability to think and communicate strategically across a variety of stakeholders.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on project
management.
Experience managing communication/editorial calendars, media vendors and
public relations.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the use of web, digital and
social media platforms (Meta, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, SEO/SEM, E-
Communication, Video, Google Analytics).
Ability to professionally interact with all constituencies from K-12 to college
students and with senior leaders across nonprofit, corporate and government sectors.
